A Little Bit About Claude
Oscar-Claude Monet, commonly known as Claude Monet, was born in Paris, France in 1840. He spent his childhood in Normandy and attended Le Havre secondary school of arts. Moving back to Paris, Monet attended the art school, Academie Suisse, in 1860 but was conscripted into the army about a year later. Returning to Paris and his studies in 1862, Monet also briefly attended another art school, Beaux-Arts de Paris.
Monet looked up to fellow artist Eugene Boudin from an early age. Other artists he admired included Eugene Delacroix, Charles-Francois Daubigny, and Johan Jongkind.
Monet enjoys using his works to depict nature, in particular, 'plein-air' outdoor landscape painting using oil paints.
